This will make hooping and sewing the cap much easier. You may now remove the cap frame from the gauge. To attach the backing, you may use one of several methods. The red driver ring should slide easily over the lower arm of the machine and should allow for a business card or two to fit between the ring and the lower arm. Push down on the middle of the cap frame strap at the top to seat it around the sweat band. Smooth down the lower part of the cap while snapping the buckle closed.

Support wings may also need to be removed when design size pushes the physical limits of a specific cap. While maintaining the cap visor feame and front snugness as described in the previous two steps, you must now perform three basic functions in unison with your right hand:.
Hooping a Cap with the XTS Wide Angle Cap Frame
If there is not, then the cap frame strap has either not been positioned correctly or is too loose. For more information, see the Hoop Selection section of this manual. Some caps may require this. Slide the red driver assembly onto the lower arm and support shaft.
See the hoop selection section for specifics. Remove the hook guard by loosening the screws on either side of the lower arm with a 2mm hex wrench, and sliding the hook guard forward. The backing should cover the sweat band as well as the inside of the cap crown as shown. Look at the inside of the cap to make sure the backing is melcl bunched as well as covers the area to be embroidered.
Unscrew them and remove the arms. Then push the strap down against the cap brim moving from the latch toward the wing nuts so that is very snug to the cap. To remove the cap from the cap frame after embroidery is complete, unlatch the cap frame strap from the support by pressing on the metal at the end of the strap adjacent to the latch as shown.
Check and re-hoop if necessary.
Installing the Red Wide Angle Driver
Slide the cap frame onto the cap gauge. If the gap between the ring and the lower arm is incorrect, or if you are unable to install the driver, it will need to be adjusted.
The red driver ring should slide easily over the lower arm of the machine and should allow for a business card or two to fit between the ring and the lower arm. The screws do not need farme be completely removed. Then, slide the lower support shaft out of the t-channel and off the machine. Indent the cap material along the clip posts. Continue bringing the strap around the front of the cap. This will ensure the entire cap sewing field has backing. While holding the cap frame strap down around the sweat band, release the rear of the cap with your left hand and attach the strap latch wire over the hook on the support.
Prepare the cap for sewing.
Do not over-tighten the screws as they are designed to break before damage to the machine can occur. Feame install the needle plate, simply remove the regular needle plate by removing the screws holding it in place. After the cap is embroidered, the ,elco can be reshaped. While maintaining the cap visor centering and front snugness as described in the previous two steps, you must now perform three basic functions in unison with your right hand: Obtain the cap and turn the sweat band completely out as shown.
At this point, it may need to be folded a bit to fit in the frame. To adjust the cap frame strap, loosen the two wing nuts on the caps left side. If hoop feame is not selected properly, severe equipment damage may result.
Leaving your right hand free to perform the next step, grasp and gather the sweat band with your left hand and pull it downward to snug the front of the cap tightly around the cap frame supports. Then attach the raised needle plate by securely tightening the screws in place. Select the cap frame that corresponds to your driver. Push back on the visor vap hold it against the plate at the front of the cap frame strap.
