Can you give some more info on it, please.
What resolution do you have now? I have never heard or read anything anywhere that these two rival manufacturers would develop chipsets and modify drivers for each other.
MSI may apply some modifications ie branding, extra features but the core system driver is built by, in this case, VIA. Bas, you posted before I replied, and pretty much covered it. I know what I viw have to do and that is get an agp graphics card.
If I could get her to use puppy linux I would but she is a woman who thinks windows is a pc Thanks for all your help much appreciated!
I am afraid that for windows it is going to have to be an agp card. OK, lets clear a few things up. I’ve assumed SIS is some kind of Linux driver. Ah well, it is the luck of the draw I am afraid. Home Help Search Login Register. I am on xp sp2.
I could modify the registry but I am not going to risk that! It is my girlfriends pc. I am ok with linux I cannot ecpect my girlfriend to be so it is windows xp k88m00 nothing. Glad to hear you got it sorted! I have the very latest bios installed 3.

It’s not uncommon for good operating-systems to bypass the BIOS and drive the chip your own way. Sorry that should be K8M!
MSI K8MM-V – motherboard – micro ATX – Socket 754 – K8M800 Series
The frame buffer is set to 64MB it cannot be altered only the aperture size. BIOS lists all the possible resolutions standards normally: I will have a look if that is the driver that risky link but i am pretty ceratin I did use the latest but if it is not i will try thanks.
So job done – again thanks for your help but the inherent limitations of these old onboard VIA chipsets lacking support forced me down this route and at that price I am not complaining!
